VFR Briefing
GENERAL (VFR flights within Paros CTR)
1. Access to Paros CTR is restricted to aircraft capable of maintaining two way radio communications with the appropriate ATS unit.
2. Aircraft destined to Paros/Naxos Airport should hold over the holding patterns and should not proceed to the airport before establishing contact with Paros AFIS (freq.125.050MHz) and receiving the relevant information concerning the IFR/VFR traffic.
3. Aircraft, including Helicopters, flying by VFR within Paros CTR, should follow VFR routes and altitudes as depicted in this chart, unless VFR criteria require otherwise or a special permission has been obtained from the appropriate ATS unit.
4. When necessary to deviate from the specific routes or altitudes, Paros AFIS (freq.125.050MHz) has to be informed, before entering Paros CTR/ATZ or immediately after departure.
5. To meet specific traffic requirements the appropriate ATS unit may propose different VFR routes.
6. Position reports must be given to the appropriate Paros AFIS unit, when over reporting points depicted on this chart.
7. A continuous watch must be maintained on the appropriate frequency of Paros AFIS when flying the VFR routes depicted on this chart.
8. Cancellation of IFR flight plan within Paros CTR is accepted. After such a cancellation VFR routes and altitudes should be followed.
9. It is reminded that on VFR routes the responsibility to maintain terrain clearance and to avoid collision with other aircraft and restricted airspace rests with the pilot.
Naxos Airport
1. To facilitate the aerodrome traffic, for flights destined to Naxos Airport:
A. The access to Paros CTR, from positions BIBEX, ERAKIS and DIDIS is restricted to aircraft capable of maintaining two way radio communications with Paros ATS unit. Flights, should hold over the visual holding patterns (see above GENERAL para 2)
B. The access to Paros CTR, from position KOTOMERI, is restricted to aircraft capable of maintaining two way radio communications with Naxos ATS unit. Flights, should hold over the visual holding pattern (see below para 2)
C. All flights should not leave the published holding patterns, to proceed to Naxos airport, before receiving the relevant information from Paros/Naxos AFIS that preceding IFR traffic, if any, has completed a safe landing/departed to/from Paros or Naxos Airport.
2. For these purposes, an additional visual holding pattern has been established, west of Naxos Airport. Holding on the above pattern should be carried out as described at VFR “routes and altitudes” published chart of Paros CTR.
3. To facilitate the traffic within Paros CTR, arriving and departing flights from/to Paros Airport, should follow the Routes as described below:
